Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan. It's based on the belief that a practitioner can channel energy into a recipient through touch or by placing hands near the body. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "rei," which means "universal," and "ki," which means "life energy" or "vital energy."
Through the laying on of hands, Reiki practitioners serve as conduits for channeling universal energy by facilitating the flow and harmony of this energy within the body, Reiki aims to promote overall well-being, balance, and relaxation.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a bridge between the recipient and the boundless source of universal energy, guiding it to where it's needed most. This gentle yet powerful healing modality works on the principle that by restoring balance to the body's energy centers, known as chakras, and removing blockages, the body's natural healing processes can be activated.
Through Reiki energy, recipients often experience a deep sense of relaxation, inner peace, and rejuvenation. It's believed that this healing energy can not only address physical ailments, but also promote emotional healing. Overall, Reiki offers a holistic approach to wellness, tapping into the body's innate ability to heal itself and fostering a state of harmony and vitality.
During a Reiki session, you'll be comfortably lying on a massage table, fully clothed. As your practitioner, I will gently place my hands, palms down, just above specific energy locations on your body. You have the option to keep your eyes open or closed, whichever feels most comfortable for you.
Throughout the session, you may notice various sensations as the healing energy flows. Some commonly reported sensations include warmth, tingling, or pulsing in the areas where my hands are placed. Others may simply feel a deep sense of relaxation, while some may not perceive any noticeable changes at all. It's important to remember that everyone's experience with Reiki is unique and valid.
The duration of a typical Reiki treatment ranges from 30 to 50 minutes, allowing ample time for the energy to work its magic. Many clients find themselves drifting into a state of profound relaxation during the session, with some even falling asleep as the gentle energy surrounds and nurtures them.
